Barrow foodbank in Millom – Big Food Collection

30th June 2016

The generosity of a community has been praised by a local charity as it continues its bid to feed hungry people across the area.

Tesco in Millom is urging people to give generously as it joins stores across the nation to collect food for local foodbanks.

This week Tesco stores across the nation will be boosting food donations by 20 per cent and Tony Woodward, co-ordinator of Millom Foodbank, believes it’s more important than ever to support people in our communities.

He said: “The food that was collected at Christmas is starting to get low after helping numerous families across the area.

“Now we need as much support as we can get from the public – we’re always in need of volunteers as well.”

All this week, stores across South Cumbria will be adding to food that is donated to try and bolster supplies and once again, the foodbank is calling on the generosity of Millom people.
