Give Help

Volunteer

Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

Warehouse volunteer

We need help to weigh, sort and store donated food before it’s made into parcels for clients to collect. You could help in this vital work to ensure we have the right food available at all times.

Volunteer Supermarket Coordinator

Barrow foodbank is blessed to have strong relationships with a number of local supermarkets where we have permanent collection points. Your role description would be to continue building up these relationships and plan for the various food collections throughout the year. You would recruit and maintain a database of existing and prospective volunteers for supermarket collections. You would share responsibility with existing volunteers and/or members of the core group to be present during collections. Support and training will be provided.

If you are interested contact Ann Mills, our project manager on 01229 343436 or by  email to arrange an informal meeting to discuss the role.

Helping at a foodbank centre

Meet clients and give out food parcels. Have an informal chat with clients over a cup of tea, to discuss their situation and signpost to further support

Fundraising Coordinator

Over the earliest years the foodbank has been blessed by the generosity of many organisations and individuals. We need a volunteer fundraising coordinator who will have the enthusiasm for planning events throughout the year in the community with the support of volunteers and the core group.

If you are interested contact Ann Mills, our project manager on 01229 343436 or by  email to arrange an informal meeting to discuss the role.
