At Barrow Foodbank we’re supporting #5WeeksTooLong to highlight the struggle caused by the five week wait for Universal Credit. This wait impacts particularly on disabled people and those with ill health and has a big impact in terms of housing. A recent survey found 81% of tenants saw financial hardship whilst waiting and Centrepoint described it as, ‘the five-week wait is five weeks of destitution’ for young homeless people.
